LAND LAWS.
AMENDMENTS TO THE BILL*

"Wellington, Last Night. Amendments to the Land Laws Amendment Bill were introduced in the House by Governor's message to-day. The tfiost important amendment relates to the payment of compensation in cases of land taken under section (1.5 of the Land Laws Amendment Act. 1913, relating to land acquired by way of aggregation. The Government may buy land that has been aggregated. The compensation will be paid in the manner provided by the Public Works Act 1908, relating to land acquired for public works, but such' compensation shall not exceed the Government valuation as recorded in the district valuation roll at the time of acquisition,, plus ten per cent, and plus also the value of all improvements effected on the land since its acquisition by way of aggregation. Tliis wction is to apply to any land acquired by aggregation since 'the passing of the Land Laws Amendment Act
