OPUNAKE RAILWAY.

CANCELLATION OF MOTTJROA EXTENSION. '- INDIGNATION IN TARANAKI. The cancellation of the proposal lo proceed with the extension of the railway along the coast from Moturoa to Opunake has aroused Indignation throughout Taranaki. Mr. W. A. Collis (the Deputy-Mayo*, yesterday forwarded the following telegram to Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P., in re. lation to the matter:—"There is the greatest indignation throughout the district 8t the unfair advantage taken by Minister of Public Works in deleting the Moturoa-Opunakc line from the Railways Bill during the absence of the Taranaki members from the House- Is there any way- of holding the matter up in the Legislative Council? hce Mr. Samuel. Several indignation meetings are being arranged in New Plymouth and other parts of the district tomorrow."

The following telegram was also sent to the chairman of the Egmont County Council, the chairman of the Opunake Town Board, and the Mayor of Inglewood: "There is the greatest indignation throughout the district at the unfair advantage taken by the Minister of Public Works in deleting the Motu-roa-Opunake line from the Railways Bill during the absence of Taranaki members from the House. Suggest you telegraph Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P., to-day protesting, and also endeavour to arrange an indignation meeting! in your district to-morrow. New Plymouth" is doing the same."

An indignation meeting is to be held at the Soldiers' Club at 11 o'clock this morning.
