GREATEST SUFFERERS OF TO-DAY: BETTER CONDITIONS WANTED. By Teleerapti.—Press Assn.—Coprilght. Received Oct. 28, 10.30 p.m. London, Oct. 26. Lord Burnham, presiding at a congress of salaried workers, representing numerous associations, declared that the middle classes were the greatest sufferers by the social and industrial upheaval resulting from the war. The congress carried a resolution urging the organisation of the professional classes to obtain a satisfactory standard of life, better housing, the abolition of profiteering, and reduction in travelling fares. It was also resolved to protest against the unjust incidence of the income tax. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
