DISASTER IN GERMANY.
FIRE BREAKS OUT. FORTY PERSONS KILLED. By Telegraph.—Press A»n.—Copyright. Received Oct. 28, 10.25 p.m. Berlin, Oct. 20, A passenger train collided with a goods train at Kranowitz. Some of the carriages and waggons caught fire, while smuggled spirits, which were in the possession of many of the passengers, increased the flames. Fifty persons were killed and fifty seriously injured.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Received Oct. 28, 10.50 p.m. Berlin, Oct. 26, Forty persons dead as a result of the railway collision reported from Kranowit:,, Silesia. Harrowing accounts are given of the work of salving the charred corpses, the majority of .Thorn were alcoholic smugglers, including many women. The spirit was concealed on the bodies in specially constructed containers. Thus they were an easy prey to the flames. — United Service.
