v THE IXMINION CONFEpNCBi' . ELECTION OP OFFICERS- •• By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The conference of the Public Service Association was continued to-day. Among remits adopted were the following:— That the Public Service Association, having become aware that an attempt is being made to introduce legislation to extend the terms under whieh public servants may be granted a retiring allowance from the superannuation fond, and that such proposed amendmtHii seriously restricts the right of present contributors to the fund, and that it will affect the stability of the fund, is of opinion that no such legislation should be introduced unless on the advice and with the agreement of the Public Service Superannuation Board. That the Public Service Association is ■ of opinion that any housing scheme for public servants can Ibe permanently i effective only if the ownership of land and buildings is retained by the Association of public servants and not by individuals comprising the Association. By this means only can values be maintained at a reasonable level and a permanent benefit secured. The final business was the election of officers for the ensuing year, which resulted: SPresident, Mr. W. M, Wright; vice-presidents, Messrs J. H. Jerram and J. B. Mcl/une; vice-presidents (exofficio), Messrs. C. M. Hill, W. M. White. P. R. Weibb, and P. F. McKenrie; hon. treasurer, Mr. B. L. Daflard; auditor, Mr. 6. C. Smith. The following were elected to the Executive Committee as representatives for the various sections: Wellington, Messrs. W. H. Phillips, 0. J. MeOomisky; Auckland, Mr. J. H. Jerram; South Auckland, Mr. R. Sinel; Wanganui and , Palmerston North, Mr. F. F. Lauren (ton; Marlborough. Mr. A. Burgess; Nelson, Mr. C. M. Hill; West Coast,-Mr. W. W. Cook; Canterbury, Mr. F. T. Sandford; Otago. Mr. T. H. Sherwood; and Southland, Mr. J. R. McLune.
