Campbell, who will be leaving the district shortly and to mark the appreciation of the residents for the work done by Miss Campbell at the time of (he influenza epidemic. It was decided to canvas the district for funds, this being considered tho best means of giving the residents an opportunity of showing their appreciation. It was also decided to hold another meeting on Saturday evening next with a view to making final arrangements. Lovers of a first-class entertainment wfil bo Interested to note that a musical entertainment will be given in the Warea Hall oft Wednesday, November 5. All tho musical Items, recitations, dialogues, etc., will bo by the Warea school children and patrons may look forward to a rare treat. The proceeds are to further augment the school funds. Tho prospects for tho coming dairy season are stated to be good as far as can' be seen at present. There was a scarcity of reeding during tho winter, and this has had the effect of retarding the season to a certain extent. It is felt, however, that with the vigorous! growth of the spring farmers will be compensated for the lack of the winter. The recent rains have promoted a satisfactory growth of grass, and the cows are coming well. Tho outlook, as far a3 prices are concerned, is also good, and It 1b anticipated that there will be a keen demand for the season's produce. while the handicap ofl restricted 1 shipping will have practically disappeared. All things considered tho season promises well. With the summer weather at hand people are asking how about the Athletic Club. Young people and returned soldiers should surely bo able to revive the old sports meeting of bygone days At any Kite there should be a few of the "old hands" prepared to lend their services to this end. In pre-war days Pungarerni possessed! several good athletes, and there should now be several others in the district capable of assisting In the management and tho Deld. In almost every district meetings will soon be held to make arrangements for a sports day, and surely Pungarehu will not lag behind. Tho billiard room, which has long been without a tenant, Is being renovated preparatory to re-opening. Mrs. J. Fleming, who has been confined to a private hospital in New Plymouth for the past few weeks. Is, I am pleased to say, now quite recovered, and back home again. The usual monthly meeting of directors of tho Cape Egraont Dairy Co. was held on Saturday 18. Tho secretary of the Pungarehu Social Committee recently wrote the secretary (Mr. Cattley) of the New Plymouth Citizens.' Bund asking for a visit from the Band to give a recital on some future Sunday, and a reply has been received that the Band will visit Pungarehu on January 6. It is generally understood that the Hindoos who come to New Zeafdnd from- India are members of the coolie class. It will be interesting to.many people to know that in a good many cases the men who come out are men who have farming property In their own land, and htee agreed to come to tho colonies for a training in order to broaden their wholo outlook on life. It Is stated that one man who loft New Zealand recently for his honft in India to rejoin his brothers has a farm of 150 acres, which produces cotton, lentils, green peas, and other farm produce,
