STRATFORD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) (All communications, letters, etc., left with Mr. H. J. Hopkins, bookseller, will receive prompt attention.) Oct. 20. The social held in the Midhirst Public Hall on Wednesday evening in aid of the Anglican Church proved most satisfactory to the organisers and the large crowd who attended. Mr. E. H. Unwell acted as secretary, and his activities contributed largely to the success of the gathering. Mesdames Svmonds, Harkness, Mail, Stevenson, and Linwell had charge of the supper arrangements. The music was by Mrs. Bianchi's orchestra, which is always in favor with dancers, and fully deserved the many encores bestowed upon it. Messrs. F. Carter and Linwell had charge of the floor. At intervals songs were sung by Mrs. Black and Misses Moir and Litchwark. The social was considered the best that has been held in Midhirst for some time. A tender has been let to Mr. N- J. King for additions to Mr. Pejicy Thompson's offices in Fenton Street. Extensive additions are also to be made shortly'to the offices of Messrs. Rutherfurd, McAlister, and Coleman.
