MASTERTON RACES. FIRST DAY'S RESULTS. By Telegraph.— Tress Association. Mastcrton, Last Night. There was fine weather for the first day of the Masterton races, with a record attendance and excellent racing. The totallsator handled £23,n3S 10s, compared with £21,504 last year. Results:— TRIAL STAKES. Five furlongs— 4 Sweet Memory (MeFlynn) 1, 1 Elcullus and 10 Emia, dead-heat 2, ii Probate 3. Also started: I! Belle Noir, 5 Missland, 11 Hallowvinia, 2 Negligee, 9 .Tnckaroo. Ilieus, 12 Strategy, 7 Shamrock. Sweet Memory led throughout and won by a length and a half, a dead-hcat for second place. Time, 1.2. FLYING HANDICAP. Six ffarlongs —1 Killing (It. Reed) 1, 3 Ermine 2, 4 Matatua •3. Also started: 5 Chimera, 2 Lady Genera! 7 Trentham Rose, C Spangle. Ermine and Trentham Rose led from a good start.
