THE BOARD OF TRADE.
FURTHER AMENDMENTS TO BILL By Wire—Own Correspondent. Wellington, Last Night. A ..suggestion that the Government should give facilities for interested parties to give evidence regarding the Board of Trade Bill was made in the House of Representatives to-day by the Hon. A. M. Myers (Auckland East), who stated that some persons were anxious to make representations regarding certain provisions of the Bill. The Prime Minister said this seemed to be impossible as the Bill had been passed by both Houses. Some amendments that had been made by the Legislative Council were now awaiting the consideration of the House. He had held the Bill back in order to allow time for certain correspondence to reach him. He thought that one of the amendments made by »ae Council was a mistake and he probably would ask the House to disagree With it. Mr Myers said the Bill was a particularly important one and its smooth working was most desirable. Would the Prime Minister consent to receive by telegram any objections that might be urged with a view to having them considered in the Legislative Council? The Bill could be recommitted there. If there were serious objections to any clause it would be in the interests of the Bill that they should be considered. Mr Massey replied that he had received a number of objections, nearly all of them relating to a provision that had been inserted by the Council. He was allowing as much time as possible without endangering the Bill. When all the objections had reached him he would .make up bis mind what to do. It might be necessary to bring down a Governor's message with some further amendments that ought to be made in the Bill. 'i
