WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent) October 11. At a special meeting of the Borough Council held last evening Mr G. Westerman was appointed to the position of waterworks overseer, sanitary inspector, etc., in the place of Mr G. Fear, resigned. There were three applicants. Mr Westerman possesses excellent testimonials, is a registered plumbc: with excellent credentials, and has had considerable experience with spiral pipes and should prove a worthy successor to Mr Fear. Mr W. Trias was appointed to the position of roads foreman out of five applicants, and Mr J. Olsson sexton. Mr Varley, who is taking the position vacated by Mr J. Finnerty of foreman butcher at the works, has arrived to take up his duties. Mr Finnerty is going to devote his time to the firm's live stock work. Mr C. K. Wilson, who is standing for the Waitonio electorate, has been in Waitara for the past twe days. It is rumored that the freezing works cooling room has been secured for a ball, which is to take place somewhere about the end of the month.
