GOVERNOR-GENERAL'S VISIT.

GENERAL ARRANGEMENTS General arrangements in connection with the farewell visit of the GovernorGeneral and the Countess of Liverpool to New Plymouth are now practically completed, and it is anticipated that the whole proceedings will be in keeping with the importance of the occasion, and also the town and district. As has been already stated, in consideration of the lengthy journey from Wellington, the proceedings at the railway station to-night will be of the briefest character. The Vice-Regal party will be received by the Mayor and councillors and formally welcomed to the town. They will then motor to the White Hart Hotel. The station will he decorated and brilliantly illuminated for the occasion. The official ceremony of presenting addresses on behalf of the citizens to the Governor-General and Lady Liverpool will take place at Everybody's Theatre at 10 a.m. to-morrew. At this ceremony also the Governor will present the Royal Albert Medal to the next-of-kin of the late Arthur H. AmWry. The Vice-Regal party leave New Plymouth by the 11.50 a.m. train on Wednesday. The guard of honor for Wednesday's ceremony will be formed by returned soldiers who are requested to assemble at the club rooms in mufti at 9.30 a.m. The Mayoress wfluTd be grateful for gifts of maidenhair fern, asparagus sprays and roses for the decorations in connection with the visit. Flowers may be left at the Mayoress' office this morning, or at Everybody's Theatre thiß afternoon. At the request of the Mayor, the Citizens' Band will assemble at the station to-nieht to take part in the welcome to the Governor, and will also be present at Everybody's Theatre on Wednesday morning. An effort will b« made to have the hand in attendance sufficients early to give the people a half hour's 'programme before their Excellencies arrive. The address to be presented to Lady Liverpool by the Maroress will be representative of the following women's organisations: New Plymouth Women'* Patriotic Society, British Red Cross Society, Victoria League, Women's National Reserve. Mothers of Empire Association. St. John's Ambulance Association, Plunket Society, and New Plymouth High School Old Girls' Association. The Mayoress expressly requests that as many members as possible of the above organisations should he present at the ceremony on Wednesday morning, , The Governor-General, it is understood, will not leuve New Zealand on the completion of hie term of office until the early part of next vear. Soon after the Parliamentary session ends. His Excellency and Lady Liverpool will go into residence at Christchurch for some weeks-
