TENNIS.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club was held on Saturday night, Mr. J. C. Nicholson presiding over a fair attendance. In the absence of the customary printed report, which had been dispensed with on the grounds of economy, the chairman gave a verbal account of the club's doings durlug the year. The balance-sheet showed .1 slightly Increased overdraft due to the large number of gentlemen members who had been away. As many of these had now returned it was considered the coming season would be a very much better one for the club than the last few had been. Reference was made to the alterations and extensions of the grounds which, when completed, , would provide ample accommodation for a large number ot players. The balance-sheet was adopted without discussion. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Dr. H. B. Leatham; vice-presidents, Mr. J. C. Nicholson; secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. Webster; committee, Messrs. E. Griffiths, R. H. Rockel, A. R. Rydefr, E B Darics, and N. Balharry; auditor, Mr. H. W. Kirkby. The secretary was voted the same honorarium as last year, and appreciation was expressed of his services. The question of introducing the club ladder competition was referred to. and tho committee requested to take the matter into consideration. Votes of thanks to the press and the chairman concluded the proceedings. At a subsequent meeting of the ladv members, the following committee was elected: Mesdames Fookes, A W Webster. Penn, and Nicholson; Messrs Wade, L. Thomson, C. Leatham, and D. Simpson (secretary).
