PROFITEERING.
SEVERE PENALTIES DESTRED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 11. The Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association adopted a resolution that the Government be asked to make the Bitf dealing- with profiteering provide K>r persona comvicted of that offence being dealt with in a manner similar to conscientious objectors and anti-militarists, namely, by imprisonment and loss of civil rights. It was further resolved that the Government be called upon to devise means whereby all profiteers shall be compelled to pay, by 'levies upon the war profits, for all the needs of soldiers in re&pect of allowances, pension* ami gratuities. During the discussion the opinion was expressed that it was a good thing to bracket conscientious objectors and profiteers: "They should be put in their •class, as they are both traitors to their country."
