JERSEY BREEDERS.
MEETING OF NEW PLYMOUTH! i EXECUTIVE. A meeting of tlie executive of the New Plymouth branch of the Jersey Breeders' Association was held at the office of the secretary on Saturday. Mr Harper B. Lepper presided and there were also present: Messrs C. H. Weston, P. W. Cornwall, H. C. Sampson and jS. Griffiths (secretary). Mr J. Cloak (Lepperton) was elected a member. It was decided that a First Taranaki Jersey Cattle Oaks should be promoted, the following rules to govern' it:— 1. That- the contest be open to all' pedigree Jersey heifefs born between July 1 atid' December 31, 1919, both days inclusive. 2. Nominations must be received by the secretary on or before December 31, 1919. 3. The names and registered numbers of the aire and dam of each animal entered must accompany the nomination. 4. Sees must be paid as follows for each animal entered:—Nomination, 10s fid; first acceptance, July 1, 1920, £1 Is; second acceptance, July 1, 1(61, 10b 6d; 3rd acceptance, July 31, 1923, .£2 Bs. i 5. To qualify any animal must secure a certificate of record for a minimum of SOOths of butterfat. 6. Heifers to be .exhibited and judged on type when 3 years old, at the Taranaki A. and P. Society's show at New Plymouth in the month of February or March, 1923. 7. Heifers to be judged by two judges approved by the North Taranaki branch of the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders' Association. The judges shall select an umpire before the day of the show, to give a fiiiar decision if they fail to agree. 8. All moneys received (after deducting actual expenses which shall not exceed 10 per cent) will be paid in prizes as follows: First GO per cent, second 25 and 3rd 15 per cent. It waß resolved to ask the Taranaki A. and P. Association to include the above competition in their show schedule. It was also decided that the A. and P. Association be asked to provide a special class in their 1921 show schedule for the Oaks competition to be shown as yearlings, and a special class in the 1922 show schedule for the Oflks competition to be shown a,a 2-y£ar-olds. Mr H. B. Lepper offered, if such a class was provided, to give £5 5s as a first priie in each class, and Colon?! Weston offered £2 2s as second prize in each class.
