QUARTERLY MEETING OF NEWPLYMOUTH CIRCUIT.

The quarterly meeting of the officials of thu New Plymouth Methodist Circuit was held on Monday. Prior to the business, the members of the meeting were entertained to tea by the circuit stewards imd a committee of ladies, who were heartily thanked at the conclusion of the sitting. The Rev. J. Napier Milne presided at the subsequent meeting, and there were also present the Revs. It. L. Ricuards, and John Nixon and about 33 officials. The membership returns showed the total for the circuit to be 502 seniors and .10*2 juniors. The financial statement for the quarter ns submitted by the circuit stewards showed a credit balance of £lO 17s Ud. Reports of work unionist flic young people in the various centres were generally satisfactory. The Rev. H. L. Rich., :uds reported that a scheme was under wf.v for commencing a Sunday School at Bell Block. ' The foreign missionary, secretary re- 1 ported that the contributions to' date\ « ere approximately £2OO, and that there vevo some other amounts to come in. The meeting reaffirmed its belief in the. desirability of the union of the Methodist, Presbyterian, and Congregational Church, and also expressed its approval of the efforts being made for the abolition of the liquor traffic in the Pominion, and hopes of success at the forthcoming poll, and suitable resolutions on both subjects will be submitted to the next district synod meeting. The circuit stewards (Messrs. P. J. \Vliite and W. Ambury), and Mr Pankliurst were appointed representatives to lh/ synod, the substitutes being Messrs. f. Gibson, W. Chatterton, and J. Saunders. 5 he Rei\ J. N. Milne received a cordial * invitation to remain a second year as i-uperiiitendent of the circuit, and the Rev. J. P. .Martin, of Tukekohe, was invited as second minister.
