THE SUGAR SHORTAGE. By Telegraph.—F.-ess Ann.—Copyrlebt. Brisbane, Oct. 7. Owing to the failure of the crops, it is estimated that the sugar shortage will amount to 100,000 tons. INCOME TAX RETURNS. DEALING WITH ALIENS. _. Sydney, Oct. 7. The Aliens Board has concluded its sittings. It dismissed most of the Germans' appeals against repatriation. Only about fifty were allowed to remain.
