Tallow.—Sales were not held, tho strike preventing the possibility of delivery. At tho wool sales there was good competition. The yarding of mutton and beef was still short at Addington to-day, and prices for both advanced over last week's high rates. Store sheep: A larger yarding, the general condition being poor, with a few exceptions. Demand was very brisk throughout. Two-tooth ewes 23s 6d to 34s S>d, 4 and 8-tooth ewes 33s to 35s 9d, 4, 6 and 8-tooth ewes 31s to 325, ewes and lambs (all counted) 14s 9d to 23s ad, 2-tooth wethers 32s to 355, 4 and 6-tooth j wethers 33s Id to 40s Id, ewe hoggets 20s 3d to 345, mixed sex hoggets 20s lOd to 31s, wether hoggets 22s 9d to 30s.' Fat cattle: The entrv i totalled 220 head. Competition was very keen, as butchers were bare of supplies. Prices showed a slight Increase on last week's rates. Fat lambs: 44 now season's lambs were penned and sold well, tie primes ranging from 24s to 43s 6d. Fat sheep: A larger entry and a better proportion of big heavy wethers. Butchers bought eagerly, the demand being exceptionally keen, and prices were about a record for an ordinary sale, prices for mutton working out at Is to Is 2d per lb in many cases. Extra prime wethers to 92s 6d, prime 50s to 73s 6d, medium 45s to 48s 9d, lighter 35s lOd to 445, extra prime ewes to 675, prime 46s (Id to 57s 6d, medium 40s to 455, lighter 3U 3d tp 37s 6d, hoggets 25s to 53s 6d, hoggefa 25s to 45s od. Yearling steers £3 16s to £4 9s, heifers £4 to £4 16s, IS-month steers £5 10s, 2-year-old empty heifers £6 12s 6d to £7 7a fid, smaller ditto £6 Id, forward cows £lO 17s, store cows EG 10s to £7 18s. There was a strong local demand for. dairy heifers, those offering being mostly small 2-year-olds. Forward sorts made £l3 10s to £l7 10s, others £8 10s to fill, dairy cows £lO to £l4 10s. At Kaponga, on the same day, 1 report an average yarding. Yearling heifers (small) £2 10s to £3 10s, steers £3 17s, 15-month heifers £5 to £5 Is, 2-year-old empty ditto £6 13s to £7 ISs, store cows £6 to £8 18s, bulls £9 to £ll. in tho dairy pens cattle showing quality sold well. At Urenul, on 29th. ult., I report a full yarding of both store and dairy cattle. Prices generally for all classes were a shade easier, with the exception of well grown empty heifers which allowed an adranee. The advertised slock (mostly steers), on account of Mr. P. H. Blundell was yarded and sold at the hammer. The sheep yarding was small. All of these sold as did moat of the yarding, although prices provod a shade easier compared with late sales Cows springing £lO to £lB 10s, calved £ll 10s to £l2 10s, springing heifers forward sorts £ll to £ls 10s, smaller and backward ditto £7 to £lO.

At Stony River, on 30th. ult., I report a fair yarding, but enquiry generally was dull. Good 15-month steers £5 la, yearling steers £3 lis heifers £4 os, 2-year empty heifers £7 to £7 10s, small ditto £5 8s to £6 6s, fat cows £l3 10s, store cows £6 8s to £8 13s 6tf, bulls £8 10s to £ll ss. Dairy heifers yarded were mostly undersized late sorts, selling from £9 lo £l2, cows (close up and calved) made £l4 to £22.

At Carrington Road, on 2Cth. ult, I conducted a dispersal sale of pedigree Jerstys on account of Mr. ,H. L. Spence. A very good sale was made, Jersey men attending in strong numhers from ail parts of Taranakl. Cows realised from 25s to 130 gulnoas. 3-year heifers Sugns, 2-year ditto 28 to SOgns., 18 to 20month ditto 35 to SlOgus, yearling ditto 37 to SOgns., 2 and 3-year bulls 22 to 90gns., yearling ditto 12 to 41gns., heifer calved 14 to 34' gns, bull calves 3 to 12gns. At, Waltoltol, on 27th. ult, I conducted a clearing salo on account of Mr. J R Sly. There was a good attendance of buyers, a good sale of everything resulting.
