ANOTHER PRISONER ESCAPES.
U WITH A i&m EEOOKa ' Auckland, Oct. 1. A rather notorious criminal named E. D. Warden, who although only 26 years of age, has been convicted enough times to gain the distinction of having "habitual" after his name on the police records, managed to escape from Mt. Eden Gaol a couple of nights ago, and is still at large. .Warden came from the south; at least his last conviction five years ago for breaking and entering was recorded at the Cathedral city, and he was sent up to Auckland to work out the term which is carried by being declared an habitual criminal. He has over sixteen previous convictions against his name, most of them„ for crimes allied to the professional thief, and one 19 for escaping from custody. Twr nights ago he managed to cut out one of the bars of his cell and, getting through the opening, he escaped from the gaol preeincts, and his address at present is as indefinite as that of the other famous criminal Christie, who is still being looked for by the police and asylum authorities.
