STATEMENT BY MINISTER, (By Wire—Own Correspondent) Wellington, Last Night. •Mr Jennings (Taumarunui) asked the Minister of Mines whether he was aware that an Australian syndicate was (negotiating for the purchase ot r the Parapara iron ores and the ironsands of Taranaki, and, if this was correct, what steps would he propose for securing these valuable rights for the people? Some action was necessary, aa the State had assisted these works at various times. Sir W. Fraser replied: I have ascertained that a syndicate, or company, is making inquiries with regard to the purchase of the leases. Steps will be taken to protect the interests of the Dominion in the matter.
