OLD BOYS' ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report of the New Plymouth High School Old Boys' Assockv tion, which is to be presented at- a. general meeting to be held in the school assembly hall on Friday night, states, inter alia: That the first annual meeting, was held in October, IMS, and then refers to the suspension of activities during the war period and the resuscitation in December, 11U7, when efforts were made to assist the Board of (?overnors of the School in raising money for the rebuilding of the school. In that connection the sum of £2030 13s 6d was raised by the Citizens' Committee, which was formed at the suggestion of the Old Boys' Association. Fresh officers were elected in February, 1910, and the Association put on a sound footing, and an active part was taken in connection with the official ceremonies at the opening of the new school building. A re-union dinner was held on the day of the opening ceremony, and the function was eminently successful, >iti James Allen, who had performed the opening of the school, being the chief guest of the evening. The mtist important matter that had occupied the attention of the executive of the Association during the year was the question of a suitable war memorial for old hoys who sacrificed their lives in the war. Two proposals had been made: One for a School Chapel (estimated to cost £:<"O0), and another for entrance gates and an overhead library (the cost of the latter being about £-2000). This matter it was felt needed only to be placed before those interested in the school and the old noya, to be generously supported, whichever scheme might be adopted. Reference is made to the activities of the members of the Association in the matter of sports, a football club having been successfully formed during the son. and a cricket club for the cominn

season. The report concludes with fitting mention of those who have rendered valuable services to the Association during the past year. The balance-sheet shows a credit balance of £lO 0s lOd.
