POST AND TELEGRAPH.
MINISTER INTERVIEWED By Telegraph .—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A deputation from the Post and Telegraph Officers' Association waited on Hon. Coates, Postmaster-General, to-day, on the subject of continuance of the war bonus, and the general question of salaries in relation to the cost of living, also the matter of compulsory retirement. The deputation further asked for full right of appeal. The Hon. Coates said Sir Joseph Ward, when in charge of the department, had undoubtedly made a promise. He (the Hon. Coates) would do what he could to put it into operation. He could not see why the staff should not have the right of appeal, but he could not give them a definite answer yet. He promised to givj the requests careful consideration, and was anxious to do what he could to remove the cause of grievances.
