CANTERBURY COLLEGE.
LECTURES IN JOURNALISM. (
By Telegraph.—Press Association. > Christchurch, Labt Night. The Canterbury College Board of Governors to-day adopted the following , recommendation: (a) that lectures in M practical journalism be instituted at ™ Canterbury College at the beginning of the 1920 session; (b) that the course be as prescribed for diploma in journalism, sub-section 8 of section 11, chapter 23, page 175, of the University 1919-20, and subject to any future change in the course that may be made by the University Senate; (d) that applications be invited by advertisement far the position of lecturer; (c) that the practical course comprise two lectures per week; (f) that in addition to the course as defined in clause (b) above, the committee recommends the appointment of suitable men to deliver lectures from time to time on special subjects pertaining to journalism, such as training of special correspondent, training of parliamentary reporter, illustrations as to the training of an interviewer, trend of public opinion; (g) that Professor J. Hight be appointed to act as general adviser of students of journalism.
It was resolved that preparations for establishing a Chair of Education be set afoot immediately, and to advertise in England for applicants for the position of lecturer.
