TARANAKI LAND BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING.
The ordinary meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on the 24th, 2oth, and-26th inst. Present: Messrs ('{. 11. Bullarfl (chairman), J. Healop. C. Ryan, N. R. Cleland, and J. W. H. Martin. H. A. Print applied for reconsideration of fys application to take up section 4 block IV Pouatu.—Resolved that the previous decision be adhered to, the section being beyond Mr. Print's capabilities.
An application to transfer part section 107 block II Ngaire, from M. and McDonald to T. McDonald, was approved.
An application from A. K. Collins to transfer .section 25 Tarurutangi to E. J. T Marsh was declined, and transferee to be notified that unless steps are taken within two months to eradicate blackberry the leaae will be determined. Transfer of section 3 block VII Tangitu, from M. McKinnon to A. H. Elliott was refused. '
Transfer of section 5 block II Ngatimaru, from A. C. Dowman to F. B. Mills, was refused.
Transfer of section IS Tututawa Settlement, .from W. G. Epping to E. L. Robson, whs left in the hands of the Commissioner.
Transfer of'section 5 block VII Aria, from A. W. and A. E. Olsen and E. J. Smith to A. W. and A. E. Olsen, was approved.
Transfer of section G block VII Ohura, from M. J. McAvady to Chas. Shelverton, was approved. The application of Richard Goodwin tn acquire the fee simple of section 2 Work XU Ohura was approved. Air. Tluitchison. of the Valuation Department, waited on the board re section 4 block \II Waro. and' was informed that the sect : on would he offered, loaded with the advance due.
It was decided to take no action re section 8 block XV Upper Waitara. pending notice from the Advances Department.
Two mortgages were approved. Under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act 20 applications- for the purchase of houses were received, of which 12 were approved and R refused; 00 applications were received for rural land, of which -23 were approved. 27 refused, and 10 deferred for further valuations or action. Two applications for ;ost of erection of houses, ft applications for advances for stock and chattels, and 3 applications for advances for repo.vmont of morteages were approved. One applinntion for payment of mortgage was refused and one deferred. Five-applica-tions were examined in conncctionowitli future dealings. Most #f the applications for houses were refused on account- of the asre of the tail dines and the undue prevalence of the borer, while in the farm properties the excess prices over valuations were the contributing factor.
