GREAT INDUSTRIAL STRUGGLE. By Telegraph,—Press Assn.— Copyright. Received Sept. 24, 2.45 p.m. New York, Sept. 23. !. Reports from Pittsburg state that there has been rioting at Farrell, Pennsylvania. Two of the rioters are dead, and many have been injured, The Steel Trust furnaces closed. In many cases half the staffs are working. One of the greatest industrial struggles in America lias been precipitated, and tlit t'nited States Senate has authorised p.i> inquiry. Suite troops are guarding Pittsburg. The Bethlehem Steel Company's employees have decided upon an immediate sympathetic strike.—Aus, N.Z. Cable Assoc, In riots following the steel workers' strikes 11 were injured, one of whom died.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. Received Sept. 24, 0.40 p.m. Washington, Sept. 23. The Senate adopted unanimously a resolution to investigate the steel strike, which is commencing on September 25. Mr. E. H. Gary, chairman of the Steel Corporation, and Fitzpatrick, one of the organisers of the strikers, will be the first witness.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. IRONFOUXDERS' STRIKE. London, Sept. 23. The position in connection with the ironfoi'.nders' strike continues as serious as before. Stocks at the largest foundries r.re likely to be exhausted in a fortnight and at the smaller ones in a few days. The injury to the industry will be greater, as the engineering trade is hooming. The Ministry of T.ahor refuses to negotiate for a settlement, adjudging the men guilty of a breach of the agreement. The men assert that the agreement empowered withdrawal after compliance with certain conditions, which they state were observed, after fruitless negotiations. SYDNEY BAKERS' STRIKE. Sydnev, Sept. 24. The pastrycooks' and bread carters' ballot resulted in a refusal to join the strikers. A secret ballot is being held by the strikers to decide whether to resume on the employers' terms.
