DESTROYER JOINS REBELS. NAVY NOT TO BE TRUSTED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Sept. 23, 11.15 p.m. Rome, Sept. 22. A foodship has reached Fiuine. The crew of a destroyer which took the Government delegate to Fiume refused to return. The destroyer joined D'Annunzio's fleet. Admiral Cagni refused the Adriatic command because he could not trust the fleet to act against D'Aiinunzio,—Times. AN EXTRAORDINARY STATEMENT. TROUBLE WITH JUGO-SLAVS FEARED. Rome, Sept. 21. Venetian newspapers publish D'Annunzio's extraordinary message to the Venetians, summoning them to cast oil' a shameful yoke. He adds: "I am absolute master of Fiume; we shall build there a new country." Roman newspapers deplore the invitation to destroy the unity of Italy. D'Annunzio is reported to be raiding Jugo-Slav territory—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Asbii. A report received at Milan states that D'Annunzio will not allow the Italian troops to leave Fiume. He is convinced that the presence of Italian troops prevents the Allies from regarding Fiume aa a rebel town and bombarding it. His adventure is attributed to the belief that the Jugo-Slav irregulars intended to occupy Fiume as soon as the Italians had gone.—Aus-N.Z. Sable Assn. San Francisco, Setp. 22. President Wilson refused'to make,a statement in reference to Fiume. Paris, Sept. 22. Correspondents report that serious fears exißt in Conference circles that fighting will develop between the Italians and the Slavs. Italian soldiers are compelling Slav women to kiss the tricolor cockade, and it is also stated that several hundred Slavs have been mur-dered.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. London, Sept. 22. An ominous Jugo-Slav attitude is developing at Fiume, where strong Jugoslav concentrations, including 8000 valunteer troops, are threatening D'Annunzio. The Dictator has ordered the Croats, Magyars and Germans to leave the city.—United Service.
