RETURNING HOME.

THE OORINTIIIC'S COMPLEMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Sept. 23. The Corinthic, with returning troops, berthed this morning, and the men were given a hearty reception. The vessel had an excellent voyage. Those for other parts of the North Island left by trains to-day, and those for the South go on to-night. Wellington, Last Night. Those of the Corinthic's troops for stations beyond Taumarunui to Auckland are proceeding by the Corinthic, which left at 5.15 to-night. The men for the soutli left by the Mararoa, and those for Nelson, Wcstport, and places between left by the Nikau. 'Details for stations north of Pnlmerston to Taumarunui leave Thorndon station at 12.45 p.m. to-morrow. Details for stations between Palmerston, Wanganui, and New Plymouth leave at 8 a.m. to-morrow. Details for stations beyond Wanganui will be billeted at Wanganui, proceeding at 7.35 a.m. on Thursday. Details for stations between Wellington, Woodville, Napier, and Gisborne, leave Thorndon at 8 a.m. to-mororw. Details for Picton and Blenheim leave by the Pateena at noon to-morrow. WELCOME AT NEW PLYMOUTH. The Taranaki soldiers from the troopships Hororata, Ayrshire, and Tainui reached their destination yesterday. Some arrived by the afternoon train, and others by the mail train. On both occasions there were large crowds on the station to greet the men, the Mayor (Mr. C. H. Burgess) and the deputy chairman of the Patriotic Committee being also present. The train in the afternoon was over an hour behind schedule time, and the mail train did not reach New Plymouth till- about 8.40. The Citizens' Band helped to enliven the waiting period by playing a number of selections on both occasions, and at night the Salvation Army Band was also in attendance. Both bands were welcoming old comrades, the former Bandsmen Shirley and Drury and the latter Padre Sawyer. The strains of "Home, Sweet Home" greeted the men as the train drew alongside the platform. Padre Sawyer marched with the Salvation Army Band to the Hall at Brougham Street, where a few words of welcome were addressed by Commandant Rowlands to the returned comrade. A welcome social is to be tendered to him to-morrow night. A HAWERA WELCOME. There was an animated scene at the Hawera railway station yesterday morning on the occasion of the arrival of the Taranaki soldiers who have just rehired by the Hororata, Tainui, and Ayrshire (sayß the Star). The platform, as usual, was befiagged, and there was a large gathering assembled. The Women's National Reserve dispensed light refreshments. Three rousing cheers were givian the boys a3 the train pulled alongside the platform. The Mayor, in a brief address, cordially welcomed the soldiers, and eulogised their services on behalf of King and Empire. A number of the soldiers brought back with them English wives, and he also gave them a hearty welcome. The following is the list of the men who returned:— HORORATA. Private A. Campbell, Fihama.
