THE BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL.
The anunal cadet barracks of the New Plymouth Boys' High School commences to-day and continues until Friday of this week. The boys took up their quarters in the school yesterday. During the daytime the ordinary classes will be carried on for the few pupils who do not drill with the cadets. The cadet contingent will be organised in two companies (Nos. 24 and 110) of four platoons each. From 6.45 a.m. to 9.1 a p.m. tLe administration will be military, disciplinary powers being vested in the commandant, Major E. P. Cox, 11th (Taranaki Rides) Regiment, acting in conjunction with the headmaster (Mr W. H. Moyes). From 0.15 p.m. to 6.45 the administration will be civil, and as such will be dealt with by the headmaster. All ordinary school rules will (in addition to military orders) hold good, hut breaches of them between 6.45 a.m. and 9.15 p.m. will be treated as military offences. Military uniform will be worn by those to whom it has been issued, and others will wear the school outfit. The staff will consist of Capta'in J. T. Dallinger, adjutant, and Lieutenant King, in charge of musketry, and seven instructors. On Friday, from 2 o'clock, there will be a parents' day The programme I will include a march past and exhibition of physical training. A shield presented by the Christchurch Press as a trophy for a shooting competition among the secondary schools of the Jforth Island will be presented to tho school, who have won }t. It is not yet known definitely jwho will make the presentation.
