SHIPWRIGHTS' STRIKE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, Last Night. The shipwrights at Walsh Island struck over the dismissal of a foreman. The launching of a 5500 ton steamer, arranged for Friday, has been postponed. SUBSIDISING WHEAT GROWERS. Sydney, Sept. 17. The Farmers' Conference recorded the opinion that the most effective means of preventing the extinction of the wheat industry was for the Federal Government to guarantee a minimum price of 5s 6d per bushel for a period of three years, that no wheat be sold for local consumption at less than the export parity, and that milling wheat now held in various pools be not sold locally or for export at less than 7s per bushel MINERS RESUME. Sydney, Sept. 18. Mining operations will be resumed at Cobar on Monday. THE TREATMENT OF SPELTER. Melbourne, Sept. 18. In the House of Representatives, Mr. IHughes stated that the British Government was advancing the Commonwealth £500,000 to foster the treatment of spelter in Australia. CAMOUFLAGED GERMAN GOODS. Melbourne, Sept. 18. The Minister of Customs announced that on the importation of ball races from America recently it had been found that the articles were of German manufacture. The races were seized and destroyed. FARMERS AND POLITICS. Sydney, Sept. 18. The Farmers' Conference resolved to place on the platform of the party insurance against accident, illness, unemployment, old age. and death, on the "lines of the English measure. It also decided against the system of preselection of Parliamentary candidates. INDEMNITY FIGURES. Melbourne, Sept. 18. During the debate on the peace treaty Mr. Hughes corrected his former figures in reference to the claim for indemnity, stating that it should have been war expenditure 304 millions, and capitalised value of pensions, damage to civilian property and similar war costs 100 millions. THE PARERORA WRECK. Adelaide, Sept. 19. All except two were saved from the Parerora wreck.
