WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) September 18. There were 50 applications for the position of secretary to the North Taranaki Dairy Company, and out of these Mr. F. W. Garner, of New Plymouth, was appointed. The monthly meeting of the Waitara (Repatriation Committee was held last night. Present: Messrs G. Huse, fl. Richardson, R, Gribbon, T. Taylor, R. Pigott, Rev. Gavin, and A. Arms. The application of a trainee for assistance while learning a trade was granted. One application was referred back to the applicant to state what sum he required and what security was offered. One application was not recommended, a3 it was outside the scqpe of the committee's power, and four were recommended for favorable consideration by the Repatriation Board. Lieut. C. 11. Tate, who arrived home by the mail train on Tuesday night, was met at Lepperton by a number of relations and friends and motored home. I understand be has not fully decided whether he is going to resume his position as town clerk, but at any rate he is not starting work for a couple of months or so.
