COURSING.
CLOSE OF THE SEASON. The New Plymouth Coursing Club brought Us season to a close yesterday afternoon, when a maiden stake was run at "Glenavon," Smart Road There was a good attendance, and the proceeding passed off without n hitch, fourteen dogs competing, and providing an excellent afternoon's sport. The hares were in excellent condition, thanks to the good supervision of them by Mr. C. Ilaskell. The winner of the stake was Irish Molly, owned by Messrs. Doolaghty and Jarrett. Messrs. Bruce and Haskell's Kingi Poi being second. Mr. J. .Tenkinson again acted as adjudicator, nnd gave entire satisfaction to both spectators and owners. The other officials were: Judge's steward, Mr. I). Scrivener; slipper, Mr. F. Doughty; slip steward, Mr. Tom Richards; call steward, Mr. A. hare slippers, Messrs r. Haskell and C. Clarke. The value or the stake was £7 and a gold mcda! (presented by Mr. H Maddock), second dog £o and trophy (presented by Mr Marrati), and two third prizes of £1 Is each were paid out. A*trophy presented by Mr. W. O'Connell for the most, points In any one course was won by Messrs, Doolaghi.y and Jarrett's Irish Molly. Haskell's Chtimpion La?s beat Master R. Vardliey's Corshaiv: Messrs. Doolaghty mid Jarretr's Irish Molly be:u Messrs. Bruce and Haskell's Sweet Comedy; Mr. McLennan's Taramea beat Messrs, Scrivener Eros.' Cornice. Second Hound.—Castle Isle beat Black Diamond; Jxhu'i Poi bear Myster Lass; Irish Mollybeat Champion Lass, Taramea, a bye, Third ruuj.d.—Kingl Pol beat Castle Isle; Irish Molly beat Tamaroa.
