The Supreme Council has instructed Marshal Foch to act vigorously towards Germany regarding the Baltic States questions.—Reuter. FRANCE TO HAVE SYRIA. ROUMANIANS TO LEAVE HUNGARY. Paris, Sept 16. It is understood that a provisional agreement between Mr. Lloyd George and M. Clemenceau stipulates that French troops shall relieve the British in Upper Syria. The newspapers reiterate that Britain will support a French mandate over Syria. The situation in Hungary is causing uneasiness in conference circles in consequence of the reported intention of the Roumanians to leave the country hurriedly. The Roumanians intend to dissolve the military police force, exposing Hungary to grave risk of disorders.
The conference requested Roumania to leave a force sufficient to maintain order, pending the reorganisation of the forces. The Conference will hold Roumania responsible if she declines and disorders occur, as the extremists are awaiting an opportunity again to throw the country into a state of Chaos.—Aus.-N.Z. SERBIA DECLINES TO SIGN TREATY. Paris, Sept. 15. Serbia has decided to sign the peace with Austrip, according to a statement in the Echo de Paris.
