THE JUTLAND BATTLE.
VON TIRPITZ'S STATEMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrleht. London, Sept. 14. Admiral von Tirpitz, writing in the "Sunday Times, claims that the Jutland sea fight, where all condition} favored the British, clearly proved the superiority of the German personnel and material, find also justified his protests against the fleet's former inactivity. Germany's Jutland lAsses were onethird those sustained by the Britiih. This elated and surprised the officers and men, who had mentally pictured dire results if early in the war the fleet had been allowed to seek a favorable opening to attack the British. Nevertheless, the British avoided von Scheer'a subsequent efforts for another battle. Admiral von Tirpitz deplores the Kaiser's retention of the supreme command of the navy, which was responsible for the policy of in-activity.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
