The Defence Department was at first shy of it, hut is now enthusiastic. Thousands have been treated, and some remarkable results have been attained in restoring crippled men. THE GERMAN INDEMNITY. Melbourne, Sept. 11. Assuming that the first 1000 millions of the indemnity is paid by Germany in 1920, Mr. Hughes is of opinion that Australia will receive about ten millions therefrom. In the second payment the proportion may rise from 15 to 20 mil-lions.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
