DEFRAUDING RAILWAY DEPARTMENT. By Telegraph.—Pvess Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, Sept. 11. A case is proceeding in whicn Chudleigh, coal inspector for the Railway Department, and Stead, colliery manager, are charged with conspiracy with others unknown to defraud the Railway Department. The Crown case alleges that corrupt payments were made to induce the acceptance of certain contracts extending over a considerable period, Large sums are involved.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
