The demand for store cattle was better, practically everything penend being sold at Improved prices. Empty cows and hellers £5 10s to £8 12s ltd; heifer calves £2 5s to £3 ss; steer calves £2 10s to £3 18s; Inferior calves £1 5s to £2 2s; yearling steers £4 5s to £5 sa. Xwes with lambs at foot sold under keen competition at from £1 13s to £2 6d. On Friday, at Papakua, best dairy cows £l4 to £2O. others £9 to £l3 10s; aged and inferior cows £5 to £8 15s; best dairy heifers £ll 10s to £l6 ss, others £7 to £lO 15s. At our monthly Tuakau sale on Thursday, good dairy cows sold for £lO 15s to £l2 ss, others £7 10s to £lO ss; best heifers to £l6 ss, others £8 upwards; empty cows £6 to £6 12s Bd; yearling to 18-month steers £4 to £6 £s 6d; calves, best £2 to £3 ss, others £1 5s to £1 17s 6d; weaner pigs, under brisk competition, £2 10s. On Tuesday, at Papaku'ra, cattle of all descriptions were yarded In large numbers, and nlthough competition was scarcely as brisk as tho previous month, we repcrt n good sale. Grown steers sold at from £l2 10s to £l6 15s for a pen of forward steer 3 from Mr. R. H. Hoggets penned in average numbers and sold at Improved prices.
