PINCH OF POVERTY.
SCHOOL CHILDREN IMPOVERISHED. By Telegraph.—l'rcss Association. Auckland. Last Niglit. Speaking to the conference of technical college directors. Mr. Oorge, director of the Auckland Technical College, said lie had never known so many boys to faint after drill aa he had this year. He had questioned them as to what they had for breakfast, and he was satisfied the pinch had been felt to a greater extent by the working classes owing to the high cost of living than ever. He was before, and was now more than ever, convinced that the solution of the problem was State -naintenance of all school children. Hje had never noticed so many poorly nourished children before since he had been in Auckland.
