DELEGATES IN CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—-Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. The annual conference of the Nations! Council of Women has opened. Mist Melville (Auckland) presided. The report stated that about forty women's societies were now affiliated to the council. Reference was also made to the Bill carried by the House enabling women to sit in Parliament, but declared inoperative owing to the unconstitutional methods of its introduction. The Premier had given notice to reintroduce the measure this session. Remits were adopted calling the Government's attention to the discrepancy between the grants to State foster homes for the maintenance of children and the allowance to a widow desirous of bringing up children in her own home; that all widows with young children receive a pension not less than is granted to epidemic widows; that the matter of reciprocity between Great Britain and the Dominions regarding the qualification for old age pensions lie brought before legislators; that the council affirms the principle that married women performing service in the home or assisting their husbands in business should have a legal right to share their husbands' income. Wellington, Last Night.

At the National Council of Women of New Zealand the problem of domestic help was discussed, and Miss Lynch, M.A., [gave 'an address on the subject. The following resolution was carried: That the Government be asked to place a sum on the Estimates to establish an experimental training school for women who wish to specialise in domestic work. A lecture, dealing with the place of education in- New Zealand society was given by Miss Coad, M.A.
