RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION.
Mr. C. Carter presided over a good attendance of members of the New Plymouth and Suburban Ratepayers' Association, held at the Soldiers' Club last night' Considerable discussion ensued on the need for extending the tramways system, and a motion was carried requesting the Borough Council's permission to allow Mr. Bartlev, engineer, to deliver an address on the matter to ratepayers. The meeting was fixed for Tuesday, 23rd. inst., and an invitation is to be txtended to the Mayor and councillors to be present. The approaching Mayoral election was reviewed, and a small committee was elected to interview a probable candidate regarding his views on Municipal matters, Th'! necessity for a universal Saturday lialf-holiday was also brought forward. Mr. F S. Johns was elected delegate to represent tlie. Association at a meeting of sports and local bodies to be held at Stratford on the 23rd. inst.
