WEDDING.
HICKEY-FLEMINQ. A wedding of considerable local interest was celebrated at the Catholic Church, Pungarehu, on Wednesday last, the contracting parties being Mr. Con. Hickey, sixth son ,of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hickey, of Te Namu, and Miss Ellen (Eileen) Fleming, second daughter of Mr. T. Fleming, of Rahotu. The bride, who was given away by her father, was becomingly attired in white charmeuse with and overdress of georgette trimmed with pearls. She wore the customary veil and prange blossoms, the veil being arranged in mob cap stylo with distinctive effect. The bride was attended as bridesmaids by her sister, Miss Margaret Fleming, and Miss Margie Hickey, sister of the bridegroom. Miss Fleming wore a handsome dress of pale blue crepe de chene with hat to match, and Miss Hickey pale pink taffeta with overdress of ninon, the hat being of white georgette. Mr. Jack Murphy supported the bridugroom in the capacity of best man and Mr. Bert Hickey as groonißinan, the three of whom went through most of the big battles in France together. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a wristlet watch and to the bridesmaids cameo brooches. The Rev. Father Doolaghy performed the ceremony, assisted by the Rev. Father Soulas, after which a Nuptial Mass was celebrated. At the conclusion of the ceremony an adjournment was made to the residence of the bride's father, where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was partaken of and the usual toasts duly honored. About 50 guests sat down to the festive board. The young couple were the recipients of a large number of valuable presents and sheafs of congratulatory messages. They left by car in the afternoon for Wanganui, where the honeymoon will be spent. In the evening a large number of guests agaiu assembled, and a most enjoyable time was spent in music, song, and dance, concluding with the singing of Auld Lang Syne.—Times.
