DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Sept. 3. A deputation from the Secondary School Assistants' Association waited upon Sir Francis Bell, Minister of Education, this afternoon to put before him certain disabilities from which relief 'sought. It was stated that in order tcj put secondary* school assistants on the" game footing of salary as primary school teachers a grant of £30,000 would Us; needed. Further reforms proposed would; call for the expenditure of £25,000. The necessity for the co-ordination of the primary, secondary, and technical educational systems was urged. : The Minister, replying, said the deputation must remember that he might be holding the portfolio of Education only temporarily. As things stood he could make no promise in regard to except that the matter would be given consideration immediately things were settled. He saw the need for co-ordina-tion but did not think it was for him to say what form it should take. The [matter was out of the question for the present session. The question of salaries, on the other hand, could be considered in connection with present estimates.
