TRENTHAM SCHOLARSHIPS.
EXECUTIVE PROPOSALS. By Telegraph.—Press Assorfsiioa. Wellington, Last Night A meeting of the executive of the Trentham Art Union was held to-aight to discuss proposals for the establishment of Trentham scholarships and the application thereof. Mr. S. Kirkealdie, who presided, said the executive would be able to hand over to the trustees about £36,000, which, on a 20 yean' bails at 4} per cent., would yield £B6OO a year. A scheme suggested by Or. Ander< son, Director of Education, for spgfal ' scholarships for children showing dlslpet ability was read A sub-committee inm appointed to draw up a scheme for olio* eating the fund and report to a subsequent meeting. It was resolved that the general fund be utilised to give assistance, where it was found necessary, to the guardians of all children of deceased or disabled soldiers after the completion of the chil- «t. dren's primary school course, and that I 1 the proceeds of the fund be allocated W VI advanced general education of the mors Tcapable children, and partly to giving vocational training to those who were not fitted for undertaking an ordinary secondary course, or who do not desire to do so. '•' It was decided to recommend to the trustees that no distinction should be made between public and private secondary schools of equal educational stand* ing.
