AUCKLAND MARKET. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:— At Westfleid store sale on Thursday last dairy cattle were pouned In large numbers, and sold at lata rates. Best dairy cows and heifers £l4 to £l9 10s, others £9 to £l3 IBs; aged and Inferior cows, £6 5s to £8 15s. The store pens were well flUed, with competition not so keen. Empty cows, £5 5s to £7 15s; calves, £2 2s to £3 10s; yearling to 13months steers, £4 6s to £0 15s; 2%-ycar steers, £7 10s to £8 7s; cows with calves, £7 10s to £9 ss.
At our monthly Whltford sale on Monday best dairy cows, £ls to £l7; good sound cows £lO 10s to £l4 15s, others £6 7s Od to £lO ss; best heifers £lO to £l2 15s, others £0 5s to £9 15s; empty cows, £4 15s to £8 2s 6d; fat heifers, £10; cows and calves £t 10s; yearling steers, £3 10s to £4 4s; yearling heifers, to £4; calves, best £2 5s to £3, others £1 12s to £2 2s; hoggets, small £1 Is.
At Westfleid fat stock market on Wednesday beef was penned in less than average numbers. Competition was extra keen and prices improved considerably. Choice ox sold to £3 8s per 1001b.; prime ox £3 2s to £3 6s per 1001b.; rough and inferior ox, £2 18s to £3 Is per 1001b; covr and heifer beef, £2 17s to £3 2s per 1001b. The market was chiefly composed of lightweights and poor quality. Steers sold at from £l4 10s to £25 3s; com and heifers sold at from £9 to £l7 10s. Runners and smaller fat calves improved, tho former selling from £5 103 to £7 (no large runners penned); heavy vealers £4 to £5 Bs, medium £3 10s to £3 19s, light £2 5s to £3 lis, lighter fat calves 15s to £2 2s; fresh-dropped 5s to 14s, weedy 3s. Figs were yarded In short numbers and Improved. Heavy baconers £7 to £8 9s, medium £5 10s to £6 15s; heavy porkers £4 10s to £5 9s, medium £3 15a to £4 8s light £2 15s to £ 3125; manors (very small), £1 14s. Sheep were penned la average numbers and sold under keen competition at [ate quotations. No extra heavy wethers or ewes were penned. Heavy prime wethers £2 8s 9d to £2 13s 6d, medium prime Si 4s 6d to £2 8s 6d, light prime £1 19s 6d to £2 4s 3d; heavy prime ewes £2 6s to £2 12s Od, medium prime £2 0s 3d to £2 4s 9d, light prime £ll4s M to £1 19s 9d; unfinished £1 8s to £1 12s. Hoggets, penned in large numbers, also sold at latd quotations. Sest from £1 13s to £1 18s. medium from £1 As to £1 12s 9d, small from £1 4s 9d to £1 8s 9d. One extra choice hogget fatted by Mr. Fred Loury, Pokeno, realised £2 9s; 53 wethers from Mr. M. Harding, Panmnre, averaged £2 12s lOd; 50 wethers from Mrs. Fleming P.anmure, £2 8s 8d; 42 wethers from Mr. W. Mills, Rlverslea, Rangiri, £2 lis 9d; 50 withers from Mr. W. Gol.on, Fnnmure, £2 10s.
