WANGANUI SESSIONS.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, August 30. At the Supreme Court James Maxwell, whom a jury found guilty of common assault under strong provocation, was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon under the usual conditions. M. J. A. Walkington Smythe, found guilty of false pretences and attempted false pretences, was sentenced to 12 months' hard, labor on the first count and three months on the second count, the sentences to be concurrent.
