WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent; Waitara, August 20. The B.s. Arapawa was hauled off the beach on Monday night and was taken to New Plymouth'by ihe *s. Ifimu. She was to be towed to Auckland to undergo repairs. Mr. Brown, shipbuilder, of Kopura, was in Waitara to-day. He has undertaken the work of repairing the s.s. Mahoc, which was damaged on the beach some time ago. The timber for this work was brought down by the s.s. Wetere from Kaipara along w'ith some 20,000 feet for various consignees. The old shed used by the ladies on the West beach has been shifted to a new position on the. edge of the levelled gronsd, and will be rearranged so that it will serve for a stall for any function which may be got up. When finished it should be u great convenience to the ladies, who usually help at picnics held at the beach.
