THE RAILWAY SERVICES.
GOODS TRAFFIC IN TARANAKI. FACILITIES TO BE PROVIDED. By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent. Wellington, Last Night. Mr. Wilkinson, M.P.. interviewed the general manager of,railways to-day in regard to putting on one goods train I per week from Pa tea and New Plymouth to inland Taranaki, to carry goods such as building materials, cement, and other articles which arc at present, not carried. The general manager agreed that the request was reasonable, and promised to put on the trains as asked for. These will be announced almost immediately and the present congestion will be relieved. TIMBER TO BE CARRIED AS USUAL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. 'Wellington, Last Night. Mr. R. W. Smith, M.P. for Waimarino, has received the following telegram from the general manager of railways in reply to a request that a definite statement should be made regarding the carrying of timber on the railways: "Your telegram received re timber workers. The improvements which are now being made in the railway services. will enable the sawmills to be carried on as usual."
