RETURNING SOLDIERS.

GIESSEN EXPECTED AT MIDNIGHT. By Telegraph.—-Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The transport Giessen is expected at midnight. If a clean ship, she will bertb at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday. TRAVELLING ARRANGEMENTS. Wellington, Last Night. Train and steamer arrangements for the Giessen's troops are as follow:—For beyond Marton to Auckland, including Rotorua and Thames, and for stations between Wellington and Palmerston North, Palmerston North, and New Plymouth, and PalmeTston and Napier, also Gisborne leave by special train at 12.30 p.m. to-morrow. Troops for the Wairarapa will leave by the 4.28 p.m. train from Lambton Station. The men for Nelson and north of Westport will leave by the Nikau at 5 p.m. to-morrow. The men for south of Westport, Canterbury, Otago, and Southland will leave by the Mararoa to-morrow night. The Marlborough men will leave by the Mapourika at uoon on Wednesday.

THE LATEST. STATISTICS. Wellington, Last Night. During July 5687 officers and men of the Expeditionary Force returned to NewZealand, making a total to date of 05,740. Of this number 57,0(18 have been discharged and gazetted out of the forces, 1337 have i-eturned to duty, 1338 await discharge, 59 await return to duty, 1331 are under treatment in hospitals or convalescent homes, and 1880 are under treatment.

A return dated August 10 gives the following particulars of the demobilisation of the N.Z.E.F. in England and France. The strength in France is 12, the strength in the United Kingdom is 3555. Patients in hospital in the United Kingdom 492; wives and families in the United Kingdom 800; nurses and Red Cross workers to be evacuated 36; evacuated from the United Kingdom since the armistice 42,067.
