The Arbitration award in the bakers' strike gives an advance of 5s weekly, making the wages 603 in the country and 05s in the town; 48 hours weekly; payment of time and a quarter for the first two hours' overtime and then time and a half. ■» LOST HOURS IN COAL MINES. London, Aug. 24. Seven million six hundred thousand working hours have been lost on the South Wales coalfields during the twelve months ended the middle of July; 4,504,000 hours were lost owing to avoidable absentism, 2,120,000 to unavoidable causes, and 058,000 to strikes.
