MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. INTER-ISLAND MATCH ABANDONED. (By Telegraph Per Press Association.) Wellington, Aug. 23. At a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Hockey Association communications were received from various clubs on the ques. tlon of holding an Intor-Island match this year ."ear. The proposal was favored by Otago Canterbury, South Canterbury, nnd Howke'3 Pay, nhllo Walkato nnd Auckland «or« against It It was resolved that owing to the uncertainty of (ravelling arrangements, the question of holding n Inter-Island match this year be abandoned, and the matter be considered at the next annual meeting. TECHNICAL COLLEGE DEFEAT AVOCA. The first game between tho above teams *<as decided on Saturday, tho College winning by 6 goals to nil. MEETING OP TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. A meeting of delegates of tho Taranakl Men's Hockey Association was held at Hawera apt week, when it was docldod not to play a third round, and the shield and cup were awarded to Kaponga. The appointment of Mr. Seeker, of Christ, church, as delegate for the Taranakt Association on the New Zealand Association was (oiiflrmed. It was decided to support Folldlng's alalia-' (lon to the New Zealand Association. Wanganui, had promised Taranaki a return match, which was decided shall be played at 1C: ponga, the Kaponga Cub to entertain the team. Should any surplus result It Is to ho handed to the Association. Messrs. Priest (Kaponga), Pennington (Eltham), and Atkln (Hawera) were chosen selectors. The date of tlo trial match Is to he left in tho hands of the selectors.
It was decided to hold the next annunl meeting in the first week In April, 1920.—Star.
