SOLDIERS REFUSE DUTY.

Three hundred men of the Warwick, Berkshire, and Gloucestershire Regiments refused to parade at Southampton for embarkation to France, believing they were to be sent to distant theatres, especially Russia, though the impression was without foundation. The men refused to return camp pending the examination of their grievances.—Aus. M.Z. Cable Assoc. Received Aug, 24, 11.5 p.m. London, Aug. 23. The Berkshires and others who refused to embark at Southampton were intended for Turkey. They spent the night in a park, and were then conveyed to camp under armed escort.
