FROZEN MEAT.

CONFERENCE AT PALMERSTON.

Palmorston North, Last Night. A meeting of representatives of Farmers' Unions, A. and P. Associations, farmers' and freezing companies was held ncre to-day. A resolution which led to a lengthy debate, but was finally rejected, read: That this meeting favors ihe extension of the meat commandeer until June 20, 1921, prices to be on a parity with other prices of frozen meat on the English market, with a guarantee that freezing stores will clear within five months after that date.

It was decided, on the motion of Mr. Poison (\V:mgftnui), that a committee be sot up to frame a report to be submitted to the Farmers' Unions, A. and P. Associations and associated freezing companies of the Dominion for their endorsement within fourteen days, and in the event of such endorsement being generally given, the committee to have power to recommend the Government that a commission be sent Home at the Dominion'** expense.

It was further resolved that the Government be reqliested to cable the High Commissioner protesting most strongly against New Zealand meat being pooled with American meat for gale, and that the High Commissioner be instructed to fake vigorous action ro stop the practice; also that the High Commissioner be asked to cable out the amount of New Zealand frozen meat in store in England at the present time, t WOOL AND HIDES. At a subsequent meeting of the provincial executive of the Farmers' Union, ihe matter of wool commandeer was aiscussed, and the following resolution pissed: That seeing that the Government has commandeered all the wool, i'ny individual who holds his wool for the sake of high profits should not bo illowed to ship his wool till all the stores in New Zealand are first cleared of produce of. every description; thai, the Government be requested to advise the Farmers' Union fully as to the reason of Ihe embargo on hides, and as to wko makes the profits on hides taken under the embargo.
